Product Description

Jojoba oil, pressed from the seeds of Simmondsia chinensis, is a silky, stable carrier that closely resembles the skin’s own sebum. Use it alone as a daily moisturizer, or as the base that helps essential oils spread evenly and absorb comfortably.

Jojoba is the quiet workhorse of a well-made cabinet. Pressed from the seeds of the desert shrub Simmondsia chinensis, it is technically a liquid wax, not a heavy triglyceride oil. That is why it feels different on the skin: smooth, thin, and quickly at home, without the film that some nut and seed oils leave behind. The resemblance to human sebum is what makes jojoba so useful. Dry skin recognizes it. Oily skin often tolerates it better than richer carriers. It can help the surface of the skin feel balanced rather than stripped or smothered. A few drops are enough for the face. A little more softens the body, cuticles, and ends of the hair. Jojoba is also prized for its stability. It resists rancidity far longer than many other carriers, which makes it a reliable bottle to keep beside your essential oils. It has little aroma of its own, so the oil you add to it is the oil you will smell. This is the carrier people finish and buy again. Not because it is dramatic, but because it makes everything else easier to use.

How to Use

Jojoba may be used on its own or as a base for essential oils. Patch-test a new bottle.

Face
Warm 2–4 drops between the fingers and press onto damp skin morning or night. A little goes a long way. If your skin is very dry, apply over a hydrating mist or still-damp skin.

Body
Massage a small amount into arms, legs, elbows, and heels after bathing, while the skin is still slightly damp.

Hair and scalp
Work a few drops through the ends to soften dryness, or massage a thin layer into the scalp, leave 15–20 minutes, then shampoo.

Cuticles and nails
Warm one drop between the fingertips and press into the nail beds.

As a carrier
Use jojoba to dilute essential oils before they touch the skin. A practical everyday guide:

  • Face: about 0.5–1% essential oil (3–6 drops per 1 oz jojoba)
  • Body: about 1–2% (6–12 drops per 1 oz jojoba)
  • Short-term, small-area use: up to 3% for healthy adult skin (18 drops per 1 oz)

Shake or roll the bottle to combine. Label the blend and use within a few months.

Makeup or oil cleanse
Massage a small amount over dry skin, then remove with a warm cloth.
