Product Description

Lemon essential oil is cold pressed from the peel of Citrus limon. It has long been valued for its bright, sparkling aroma and clean, uplifting character. Use it to freshen a room, lift the mood of a space or add a crisp citrus finish to simple daily rituals.

Lemon is the scent of a freshly turned rind. Cold pressed from the peel of Citrus limon, it captures the sharp-sweet brightness of the fruit itself—zesty at first, then clean and lightly sweet as it settles.

The oil is thin and pale gold, with an aroma that fills a room quickly and leaves it feeling more open than before. People have reached for lemon whenever a space needed waking.

  • Diffused, it cuts through stale air and brings a cheerful clarity to kitchens, desks, and morning routines.
  • Diluted on the skin, it adds a fresh citrus note to body oils and lotions. It does not linger like a resin or a wood.

That lightness is part of its charm. Lemon is a true top note. It is presence, then air. A few drops in the diffuser, a light dilution in jojoba, or a simple citrus finish in unscented lotion is often all that is needed. Most lemon oil is cold pressed. That method gives the truest peel aroma, and it also means the oil should stay off skin that will be in direct sun. Used with that one care in mind, lemon is one of the easiest oils to live with.

Safety & Storage

  • For external use only unless directed by a qualified practitioner.
  • Keep out of reach of children.
  • If pregnant, nursing, or under medical care, consult a physician before use.
  • Avoid eyes, inner ears, and mucous membranes.
  • Dilute before skin use. Discontinue if irritation occurs.
  • Phototoxicity (cold-pressed lemon): Do not apply to skin that will be exposed to sunlight or tanning beds for at least 12 hours. Cover the area or skip topical use before outdoor time. Steam-distilled lemon is generally not phototoxic.
  • Oxidized citrus oil is more likely to irritate skin. Discard if the scent turns flat, sharp, or “off.”
  • Generally used with children 2+ only in very low dilution, and not on skin that will see sun.
  • Diffuse around adult pets only in a ventilated room they can leave. Do not apply to pets. Avoid use around birds, small animals, and pets with health issues. Citrus oils can be especially troubling for cats.
  • Store tightly capped in a cool, dark place. Refrigeration helps. Best used within 12–18 months of opening.

How to Use

Always dilute before applying to skin. Patch-test a new bottle. If the oil is cold pressed, follow the sun-safety note below.

Diffuse
Add 3–6 drops to your diffuser. Run 15–30 minutes in a well-ventilated room. Especially useful in kitchens, offices, and morning routines.

Inhale
Place 1 drop on a tissue or cotton pad and breathe slowly. Or add several drops to a personal inhaler and use as needed.

Topical
Use a low dilution, about 0.5–1%, especially for cold-pressed oil:

  • 3–6 drops per 1 oz (30 ml) carrier oil or unscented lotion
  • Apply to arms, legs, or torso. Avoid the face at first, and keep away from eyes. Do not use neat.

Skin care
Add 1–3 drops to 1 oz unscented lotion or body oil. Lemon is better applied to body products than as leave-on face serums if the oil is cold pressed.

Bath
Do not add neat oil to water. Mix 3–4 drops of lemon oil with 1 tablespoon carrier oil or unscented bath oil, then stir into a full tub. Avoid sun on exposed skin afterward if the oil is cold pressed.

Home scent / wipe-down
Add a few drops to a damp cloth for a quick citrus finish on non-porous surfaces, or use in a well-diluted water-and-castile spray. Shake before each use. Avoid polished wood, stone, and unfinished surfaces until you test a small area. Keep away from pets’ bowls and children’s hands.
