Product Description

Sweet orange essential oil is cold pressed from the peel of Citrus sinensis. It has long been valued for its warm, juicy aroma and cheerful character. Use it to brighten a room, soften the mood of a space, and add a familiar citrus glow to simple daily rituals.

Sweet orange is citrus at its most welcoming. Cold pressed from the peel of Citrus sinensis, it captures the scent of a freshly opened fruit—sweet, round, and softly floral, with none of lemon’s sharp edge.

The oil is thin and golden, and the aroma feels immediately familiar. This is the oil people reach for when they want a room to feel happier.

  • Diffused, it freshens kitchens, living rooms, and morning routines without turning sharp or medicinal.

  • Diluted on the skin, it adds a gentle citrus warmth to body oils and lotions. It is lighter than the woods and resins, and softer than lemon, which is why it sits so easily in everyday use.

Sweet orange is a true top note. It fills a space quickly, then leaves a clean sweetness behind.

  • A few drops in the diffuser, a light dilution in jojoba, or a simple finish in unscented lotion is often all that is needed.

  • If your bottle is blood orange, the scent will run a little deeper and more ruby-toned, but it is still Citrus sinensis.

Sweet orange is generally kinder on sun-exposed skin than lemon or bergamot, which makes it one of the easiest citrus oils to keep in daily rotation.

Safety & Storage

  • For external use only unless directed by a qualified practitioner.
  • Keep out of reach of children.
  • If pregnant, nursing, or under medical care, consult a physician before use.
  • Avoid eyes, inner ears, and mucous membranes.
  • Dilute before skin use. Discontinue if irritation occurs.
  • Sweet orange is generally not phototoxic. Still, skip sun on freshly oiled skin if redness appears. Do not confuse this with bitter orange, lemon, lime, or bergamot.
  • Oxidized citrus oil is more likely to irritate skin. Discard if the scent turns flat, sharp, or gluey.
  • Generally used with children 2+ in low dilution.
  • Diffuse around adult pets only in a ventilated room they can leave. Do not apply to pets. Avoid use around birds, cats, small animals, and pets with health issues.
  • Store tightly capped in a cool, dark place. Refrigeration helps. Best used within 12–18 months of opening.

How to Use

Always dilute before applying to skin. Patch-test a new bottle.

Diffuse
Add 4–8 drops to your diffuser. Run 15–30 minutes in a well-ventilated room. Especially pleasant in kitchens, living rooms, and morning routines.

Inhale
Place 1 drop on a tissue or cotton pad and breathe slowly. Or add several drops to a personal inhaler and use as needed.

Topical
Dilute to about 1–2%:

  • 6–12 drops per 1 oz (30 ml) carrier oil or unscented lotion

Massage into arms, legs, or torso. Keep away from eyes. Do not use neat.

Skin care
Add 2–4 drops to 1 oz unscented body lotion or oil. Sweet orange is better in body products than in strong leave-on face serums.

Bath
Do not add neat oil to water. Mix 4–6 drops sweet orange with 1 tablespoon carrier oil or unscented bath oil, then stir into a full tub.

Home scent / wipe-down
Add a few drops to a damp cloth, or use in a well-diluted water-and-castile spray. Shake before each use. Test on an inconspicuous spot first. Keep off polished wood, stone, and pet bowls.
