Product Description

Avocado oil, cold pressed from the fruit of Persea americana, is a rich, velvety carrier packed with skin-loving fatty acids and vitamin E. Use it to comfort very dry skin, soften hair, and give essential oils a nourishing base when a lighter carrier is not enough.

Avocado oil is the generous one. Cold pressed from the flesh of Persea americana, it is fuller than jojoba and more cushioned than sweet almond—an oil that stays with the skin and leaves it feeling fed. Unrefined lots are often golden to green, with a soft, earthy aroma that recalls the fruit itself. Refined lots run paler and quieter. Both carry the same rich character. What makes avocado useful is its makeup. It is high in oleic acid, with vitamin E, phytosterols, and a little palmitoleic acid—the kind of profile dry, mature, or weather-worn skin tends to welcome. It helps the surface feel smoother and more comfortable, especially on elbows, heels, hands, and hair that has gone brittle at the ends. This is not an oil to pour on freely at noon on a hot day. A few drops go far. On the face, it is best as a night oil or mixed into a lighter cream. On the body, it is a gift after bathing. As a carrier, it gives essential oils a slower, more cushioned glide. Reach for avocado when the skin looks thirsty. It is comfort in a bottle.

How to Use

Avocado oil may be used on its own or as a base for essential oils. Patch-test a new bottle.

Face
Warm 2–3 drops between the fingers and press onto damp skin at night. If it feels too rich alone, mix one drop into your usual moisturizer.

Body
Massage a small amount into still-damp skin after bathing. Focus on dry patches, elbows, knees, and heels.

Hair
Work a modest amount through the mid-lengths and ends. For a deeper treatment, leave 15–20 minutes, then shampoo well.

Hands and cuticles
Warm one or two drops between the fingertips and press in before bed.

As a carrier
Use avocado oil to dilute essential oils before they touch the skin:

  • Face: about 0.5–1% essential oil (3–6 drops per 1 oz)
  • Body: about 1–2% (6–12 drops per 1 oz)
  • Short-term, small-area use: up to 3% for healthy adult skin (18 drops per 1 oz)

Because avocado is rich, many people blend it half-and-half with jojoba for daytime face use. Combine, label, and use within a few months.
